Classroom Floater & Aftercare Coordinator

CHMS is seeking an enthusiastic educator to serve as the Classroom Floater for all programs (toddler, primary, and elementary) and Aftercare Coordinator for the 2025-2026 school year. Ideal candidates possess a B.A. in education or a related field and have prior teaching experience with children ages 18 months to 9 years old. Prior Montessori experience is not required but is preferred. This position requires an understanding of young children; the individual will be responsible for establishing a positive, encouraging, appropriate relationship with students. They will work with other teachers and staff as a contributing team member to present a cooperative and positive work environment, and they are expected to follow best practices while working collaboratively in a professional Montessori community. This position includes planning and implementing the aftercare curriculum, as well as relationship-building with aftercare families. Warmth, calmness, and professionalism in daily interactions are essential. Flexibility is key.

This is a full-time position; the hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. The floater provides essential coverage to classrooms throughout the day, as well as coordinates and leads the aftercare program for children ages 3-9 years. The pay is $20-23/hour based on experience, plus the monthly Salary Supplement through the State of Maine. Please submit a cover letter, resume and three references to director@camdenmontessori.org.

Substitute Teachers

CHMS is seeking Substitute Teachers for all programs (toddler, primary, and elementary). Ideal candidates possess a B.A. in education or a related field and have prior teaching experience with children ages 18 months to 10 years old. Prior Montessori experience is not required but is preferred. Substitutes require an understanding of young children and will be responsible for establishing a positive, encouraging, appropriate relationship with students. They will work with other teachers and staff as a contributing team member to present a cooperative and positive work environment and are expected to follow best practices while working collaboratively in a professional Montessori community. Warmth, calmness, and professionalism in daily interactions is essential.
