Dear Children’s House families,

“Where do the Good Kids Come From?” A Parent Education Event

The Children’s House Montessori School faculty invites you to join them for a video presentation and open discussion of “Good At Doing Things” presented by pediatric neuropsychologist Steven Hughes. “In this highly visual, rapid-paced and entertaining talk, Dr. Hughes describes how Maria Montessori's brain-based approach to education provides an unparalleled foundation for the development of academic, social, and executive functions critical for advanced problem solving and lifetime success. He shows how Montessori education parallels what we now know about brain development and fosters the development of advanced cognitive functions, social cognition, and such higher-order competencies as empathy and leadership.”

Dr. Hughes, PhD, LP, ABPdN, is a board certified pediatric neuropsychologist. He also consults with organizations about educational program evaluation.

The teachers initially watched this presentation together and were so excited by his findings and how he talked about brain development and learning that they really wanted to share it with you. Please join us Thursday, 6-7:30 (or so) p.m. in the Orange Door classroom for a video presentation and open discussion. Childcare will be available only with advance sign-up. Please RSVP to me if you plan to attend.

Congratulations to Orion Paolino and his parents Aaron and Victoria who welcomed Orion’s new sister, Aurora, into the world on Saturday! We are truly enjoying a baby boom here at Children’s House. It’s such a treat to get to see all these new little people. Best wishes to the Paolino family.

Parent Coffee in Purple Door on Wednesday Nov. 7 following morning drop-off. After you say goodbye to your child Wednesday morning, please join us for coffee, light snacks, and a chance to connect with other parents.

Thursday afternoon outdoor clean up. Please come help us clean up the playground and get ready for winter on Thursday after 3 p.m. pick-up. Bring rakes, clippers, and work gloves, so we can rake up the leaves, cut back the flower beds and plant some irises that were recently donated. Help from children and adults of all ages is welcome and appreciated.

School photo retakes with Amy Wilton are scheduled for Wednesday the 7th at 10:30. If your child wasn’t here for school photos on Thursday, they can get their pictures taken this Wednesday. Amy will also be taking class photos. If your child does not attend school on Wednesdays, but you would like them to be in the class photo, please check in with me. I will talk to Amy about scheduling.

Monday, November 12 school will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to turn your clocks back!
